I like that, whats the front splitter off ?

GRAK
16-08-2004, 08:23 PM
I got the front splitter, rear diffuser, and side skirts from a guy in Northampton. He makes them himself and probably still has the moulds.
I was a bit doubtful about the fit of them, but when they were fitted to my car i was really impressed at how well they fitted. You have to remove the plastic strip at the bottom of the original GTE bumper and fix the new splitter to where the strip was. If anyone is interested in them then i still have his name and phone no. so i could email them to you, they were quite reasonably priced (£80 for front splitter) although the price maybe different by now.

Very nice grak, that kit has grown on me. I still don't like the rear splitter but with the badboy bonnet the front looks ace and so do the skirts.

GRAK
31-01-2005, 01:01 AM
I didn't know what to do with the back really, but it does suit the rest of the car though i think.

From the looks of it the body kit is PLR stuff. I got a front bumper and the same diffuser from PLR and the body shop guys commented on how well it all fitted.

The cabbie looks great Grak, all you have to do now is hunt down some rear smoked Irmsher clusters;)
I often wonder if I should of turbo'd a cabbie, I'd never been in one before I had a go in a mates RST Cabbie and I loved it, seeing the sky above you rather than a roof gives the whole driving experience an entirely different angle:cool:

Yer i've seen you car m8, looking good.
I haven't wired up the seats yet but i have repaired the wiring in the seats ready.
There's no wiring in the car for heated seats is there?

RAG 70P
15-08-2005, 06:36 PM
Thanks mate it makes loads of difference dont you think! what u doin with the rears?? did u get the door and quarter panels? no theres no wireing just wondered how u did/thinkin of doin it

GRAK
15-08-2005, 07:03 PM
No m8 just got the front seats at the mo, but they did only cost me an idle control valve and a steering coloum. :D
Haven't really thought about the wiring at the mo. Had a quick look at the Astra Haynes manual wiring diagrams and found a circuit for heated seats in there. The switches on the left of the digi dash are for them.(Just blanks at the mo).

The Calibra seats are very comfortable and are lower than the original Astra ones.

RAG 70P
15-08-2005, 07:14 PM
ok cool so theres a loom there already then??

GRAK
15-08-2005, 07:17 PM
Not sure, but thinking about it there might be conectors behind the blanks i'll have to have a look.
I'll scan in the wiring diagram later ok m8.

RAG 70P
15-08-2005, 07:21 PM
ive had my digi out recently and never noticed any redundant wires, but i suppose it could depend on models, like i havent got a power roof :-(

A1 example bud that looks spot on. Just restored one myself but need extra bits to add on over winter to give it that style touch. Need help though with cabriolet roof and it seems your the man with the knowledge. How do you get the bar to stay at the angle so the rear of the roof does not look flat instead of raised at an angle. would be gratefull for help or tips, email is greg.macken@ntlworld.com thanks

Well i paid £230 for a genuine vauxhall one. I got it from Don Trimming, don't know if they have any more though. But they do other ones to. They are based in Birmingham but have a workshop in Bournemouth to. If you want there details PM me.

I fitted the roof to my frame myself so £230 is just for the outer.

We've put a lot of work into both of them to get them right. The cab. needs some work on it to get it right.(steering rack, two tyres.) were as the 16v is up together really it just needs the side skirts put back on it. It's only done just over 60k.

I haven't posted up anything on my post for ages, due to the fact that i haven't touched my car for a while.
One thing thats been bugging me for a while is that quite a few of the bolts that hold the top cover on are just spinning around.
The thread thats supposed to be in the head is attached to the bolt and not the head!!!!
Well the only way to cure the problem is to put thread inserts in.
I've just borrowed the tool from work to insert the inserts, and a company that i deal with quite a bit have just given me 50 inserts.
So when i get chance (soon) i'll post some pics of what i had to do.
