Hello again to the world of Vauxhall forums!

Well, after being quite distant for a few years on the forums, I wonder how many people are still active who I used to chat to?

I used to be sb_scottmonkey on Migweb, but when I had a company car for 3 years or so (a weasel Golf) I lost touch with the Vauxhall forum world for a bit.

I'm on the brink of changing to a Mk2 GTE again, so I thought I'd best re-introduce myself to the group.

Hope to have a bit more involvement here, especially when I get a GTE! )

i bought a red gte door and a red bumper from you in roughly 2004, we came up to meet you in bedford and had a little sit in the english electric lightning training jet.

Blimey, I remember that day well... You and Oddball! meeting him was an eye-opening and fun experience! )

I feel honoured to have had a "whatever happened to.." thread, did anyone post any good imaginative stories??

In my absent time, I've got married, been restoring a house, and changed jobs a few times! With time, a lot can change, but the idea of a GTE has remained the same! Still a geek at heart... I've had to really cut back on my work on the Lightning, to afford the time to do the house up, it's been a nightmare of a house... learnt a lot of new building skills, and just as we're about finished the 3year restoration, we're now getting itchy feet! typical..

Nice to hear from you, hopefully will see a few more familiar names crop up.. Is MentalMel still on the forums? I've kept in touch with her with the odd random text every 6 months or so. Also, is Matt Howarth (username MPH) still on the forums? I'd really like to get back in touch with him...

It was one of the most fun ****pit-tours I've ever conducted! most people just sit there and listen, but all the sound effects you added gave the expecience a whole different angle!!

Are you still on Migweb aswell? I used it about 4 months ago for some advice on my Z18XE (which i've just rebuilt) in an AstraG SRI... so it still has it's uses! I'd bought a nightmare car, so I called it the DisAstra! It had a burnt out exhaust valve when i got it, so I rebuilt the head and got it up and running. it was only then that I found the piston rings were duff (using about 1L of oil per week!)... so a second rebuild, but of both ends this time! That and a leaky radiator, dodgy thermostat etc... I've spent a lot of time and money on it, and now it runs like a dream! If i get a GTE soon, the "now didaster-free Astra SRI" will be up for sale! ndge nudge, wink wink...

I've sent Matt a PM, hopefully he'll log on soon and see it...
