possibly unexpected new diary thread
i got my silver gte to a place where i like it, but had a constant battle with myself about spoiling it with track days and outtings.
so that brings me onto my third gte 16v, it was originally manufactured in 1988 so brings with it some of the early features like coscast engine, no cat, no abs, manual windows, laser interior. for some reason it was mothballed and not registered until 1992, and then subsequently had a pre 1984 registration added to further muddy its history !
its structurally sound, mechanically sound, paintwork is a bit "ed china" its had relacement rear arches, front arches but the colour match is bad. thankfully the actual metal work is brilliant and well done, so perhaps a lick of paint at some point in the future would bring it all together.
the immediate plans are to strip the interior, get the underside of the car ship shape, fit a roll cage, bucket seats and harnesses. fit the koni adjustables and some eibach pro springs, then get the engine to contain its own oil and generally be in a reliable, sound, servicable state.
future plans, slip diff, start thinking about suspension geometry and handling, semi slick track day tyres, maybe increase the engine output but i would rather the chassis be sound first.

i've had this bundle of tubes ready for a couple of weeks now, its a OMP 6 point bolt in which i will weld in, and add some triangulation with proper CDS tubing.
