  • Dash flocking

As part of the restoration of my GTE I was thinking about having the dash flocked,

    A) Would this be expensive to have done

    B) Would it take too much of the originality of the car away?

Done well it'll look very nice, be practical in reducing windscreen glare and professionally sorted pricing will be between 100-130 quid. Check out Suffolk Flocking Services online for pricing. DIY kits can and do often look shite.

I would have it done professionally mate as its not the sort of job I would take on myself.
My main worry in doing it is that it will take the car too far away from being original, The only "mods" I had planned were Koni suspesnion and some speedline allesios, other than that I am doing a full restoration back to totally original.

I've had both a diy job, which didn't last very well, but now have a professionally flocked dash in my GTE and I must say I love it. No glare on the screen and it's easily cleaned with a vacuum and light brushing. Check my build diary from page 102 here. There are a number of companies that offer the service but I had mine done by Auto Flock and I highly him. Here's a list of the companies that I contacted, a number of which didn't even respond:
          Auto Flock
          Suffolk Flocking Services
          CBC (Central Blast Cleaning)
          Get Flocked
          Flock'it

If you have any further questions let me know.

            Thanks mate

That dash looks awesome, its just the originality thing thats niggling me now,

Hmmm do I or dont I? If there were loads of GTEs around there would be no question, I would definately have it done.

Just get a spare dash and then you can always go back to standard. I knew when building my car I wanted a stock exterior look which I've managed to achieve with the interior and under bonnet being modded. If you were going for total originality you wouldn't be planning on fitting Speedlines and Koni would you so just do it

Do it think of it as an upgrade rather than a mod !

I get what you are saying Harvey, the main reason for the Konis is to improve the handling and the 16" wheels to reduce the tyrewalls, again to help improve handling,

Other than that I had planned to keep the rest stock until I saw my mates flocked dash, I think I would be better off not doing it in this case as nice as the flocked dashed are.
Suspension and wheels are easily changed whereas the dash inst done quite so easily.
