Thought it was about time to show you guys where i'm at with it.. The Rollcage is a full weld in Rollcentre thing, the dash is back in as part of the rollcage goes behind the dash and i wanted to refit all the mounting brackets to the cage, so the dash can be propperly screwed in.

New roofskin's on, rear suspension is turreted and it's currently sitting on coilovers in the pic, rear 1/4s and sills go on at the weekend.. thats about it at the mo :)

Steve Heley

The pic dont do the rollcage justice, main hoops 50mm the rest is 45mm (or sommit) roof cross, front and rear suspension pick ups and most importantly it's as it should be, no added 'looks good' stuff so it can be certed.. :)

Holy Cow!
I saw the pic on the home page when I came on here today, before reading the letterage I thought the car had been burnt to a bare shell!

If I was in that situation I'd do one of two things....
1. Cry
or
2. Get the bugger galvanised before getting all the panels put on!

Going for another feature?:p

Kris
12-10-2004, 04:29 PM
Defo going for another cover by the looks of it ,or an early heart attack

yikes! How did you get all the panels off? This is exactly what I want to do!

Steve Heley
26-10-2004, 09:31 AM
Combination of a grinder and spot weld drill bit... Trick is to take your time and not yank at it. Easiest thing is to paint all the seams with paint stripper, this will take it to bare metal without damaging or removing (like sanding would) the spot weld marks.

Then just do one at a time..

How long do you anticipate the whole project to take? Months/years!?

Anthony. :)

Steve Heley
26-10-2004, 03:03 PM
This time, a year... but i've not been going crazy at it.. but in all fairness i've also gone a bit further than i had planned with it. Some of the panels have been changed 'just for the hell of it'.

But how are you going to get everything back on if you have drilled it all out?

The only panel I can see being a problem is the rear arch panel, how did you get those off? Grrr I wish you lived closer so I could help and I could do it on my own mk2 :(

Good, good mate. What are the plans for it, are they; secret, undecided, or taking it back to standard?

caul pope
21-02-2005, 09:05 PM
Or none of the above?

Steve Heley
21-02-2005, 09:16 PM
Nothing secret.. Going back to standard to look at, back to the original colour of red, standard GTE wheels, stickers etc.
