Friendly grudge match anyone?

Was watching Fifth Gear's GTE16v V's RS Turbo video and had myself an idea so sent a message to Dougie at Total Vauxhall about a possible feature involving some friendly competition with the RS turbo boys and girls at Santa Pod. He's going to speak to Fast Ford to see if it's a goer. In the meantime I'd like to see who would be up for it. Ideally there should be a mix of cars and a standard GTE16v in there as a benchmark car

No dates confirmed yet as this is just to see if there is enough interest first...

lol it will be a giggle if nothing else and there are some quick rsturbos around but not many now days as all the chavs have them

yes thats correct mate some did have the lsd as standard but i think it was the escort having it not the fiestas

It's not up oi me what Fords are coming but the idea is to have Astra GTE V's escort RS turbo. Like I said this is very early and nothing, as yet, is set in stone

thats all good but how many rsturbos will be standard ?? and with 130ish bhp a standard valver should **** it anyways :) saying that i would love to see a rst ( standard ) and a standard 8v gte against each other both have same ( ish) power

in there day they were good cars till the chavs took them over but you will never beat the looks of a nice gte !

Agreed with Screamer about having difficultly finding a standard RST, but which standard GTE could we field? Darren has a quaife, mine is not standard, Addz is yours baring the HID's? Brians F plate is 100% standard isn't it? Maybe also Paul?

There's plenty of standard ones featured in the Ford magazines each month so there are plenty about...getting them on the strip might be the problem though

We only need one standard 16v then ideally all the main conversions...LET, throttle bodies, V6 etc...

Thanks for the PM Baz and yes I would be interested if later this year, anytime after June, so pencil me in. I need to get a few hundered miles under the old girls belt once the engine rebuild is complete as I'm aiming to get it on the road for the end of April.

Love the S1's...if I didn't have mine the replacement would be an S1 on 17 inch diamond cut RS rims

Yeah they do look good with the diamond cut rs 17"s, I must admitt im very lucky to have an understanding missus, As iv got 2 astra gte's sitting on the drive and my S1 RS Turbo in the garage and iv got another rs turbo shell in a lock up for rebuilding.

Haha, that session down the Pod was a nightmare! Couldnt for the life of me figure out why I was only running low 14's!! Havent owned that car for the best part of 2 years or so now dude! Kev Read ripped its heart out for his daewoo and I dont know what he did with the rest of the car. Shall be building another one shortly though and Im always up for a rematch! :D
