MOT is soon, only things thats going to stop it passing I think is the rear sills, or rather the lask of them....
Now, I was once told if they cant see the rust they cant fail it, so if they cant peel back the skirt, they cant see the rust to fail it? They wont be abe to to see it from the inside either.
and before anyone asks, full sills will be welded in next year, finacially this just Isnt a good time for me!!
My car is also lacking sills at the moment, i only discovered the problem the other day and judging by the rust they have been that way for a long time.
I've not had an MOT failure sheet with in on yet..

MOT testers cant remove any body work so providing the gaping hole is hidden from view you'll be ok, If the sill is visably rotten between inner and outer then its gas & wire time I'm afraid:(
If I were you I'd be more worried about the lower rear 1/4's as these are harder to hide, I had mine done before I took it up for its first MOT so I cant say if they would of passed it as is:confused:

mine passed about 3 years in a row with monolithic decay in the sills.
on one hand yes it will pass, but darn those pesky mot testers enforcing the law ! it would be much better all round for the shells rigidity not to be like a curly wurly left under the grill.

Lol @ 0dders, Its amazing how some people moan that the MOT testers are so picky etc when they fail to realise that its all for their own safety!
In Bretts case though, he is planning to get it all sorted but sadly the MOT has fallen at the wrong time to get it all done in one go!

I dont plan to leave the sills like that!! I cant afford to get it seen to properly untill Spring time.
In the mean time I would have thought a 6 point roll cage will do more for the shells rigidity than a new sill ever will!!!
If they cant see it, it wont fail!
Good ol sills on MK2s! Both of mine have been replaced.
pray you dont get a nutter with a screwdriver like i got last time round he pulled the skirt back and went norman bates on it then had the cheek to tell me it was dangerous to drive

I'll make sure I watch them do it, no one goes poking anywhere on my car with a screwdriver like that, I understand they have to do it but one stab is enough, anymore and they are asking for trouble. I dont look after my car all year so that 1 pillock can go around it unsupervised and ruin it in 30 mins.
