  • OMG I forgot how quick the GTE really is

Been out tonite to a wedding, coming home the roads are relatively quiet, needless to say I was in a spirited mood and the driving matched it,
Its been 5 or more years since I last drove a GTE valver, my god ive missed it.
My 20 year old GTE doesnt feel like its lost a single BHP over its 85k, VERY brisk acceleration and the noise the XE makes is just georgeous.
WHY oh why did I ever give up on them?
Never again, sadly my car has to come off teh road this week for some restoration work over the winter but god I cant wait to get it back on the road again already.
SO much fun to drive and for me the driving position is about as perfect as you can get.

Sorry for the waffle but im grinning from ear to ear and a car hasnt done that for me in a very long time.Makes me wanna go back out and play again lol

doubt it, probably more like idle control valve or a sensor if its lumpy on idle.

You could try a new crank angle sensor maybe and make sure your ICV is very clean and functioning properly.

One of my old valvers always ran lumpy at idle but turned out to have fast road cams in it.
I have a suspicion my latest aqcuisition is the same, when accelerating hard it seems to take off all over again at about 3500rpm but it runs spot on all the time.

I will have a look for the little dot on my cams when I change the rocker cover.

hmmmm think i should get the cams looked at when i gt my rocker cover and cam cover changed.only runs lumpy sometyms. the wierd thing is i raced this subaru b4 turbo thing twice on the same road and beat him. A friend of mine just put it down to him bein a crap driver.

The joys or mk2 if its not rust its something else

If it only runs lumpy sometimes its not cams mate, try the crank angle sensor and icv.
