I had a tonne of welding done to the kadett for a lot less than that, new sills, rear lower quarters, round rear arches and a few other patches for about £350.
I'm lucky enough to know a good cheep welder!
In general the chassis was in good knick though;)

i thought you cant fail arches on an MOT
You can is the MOT tester deems there are sharp edges protruding.

One of my favorite tricks, thats how I got my Nova through the last MOT, sorting out the arch is always one of the jobs that never seems to get done:rolleyes:

I thought they cant remove the skirts to check the sills?
my sills along the back quater, and up behind the back bumper are the only areas worrying me MOT-wise.
