After speaking to a mate in the trade he told me that he had an SXi sitting at the back of his garage for the best part of 3 years .The head gasket had gone so this was why it went of the road .So after a bit of chat we agreed on £50 for it .
We got it back to my mates garage and went a bit mad with paint on the engine ,i havent got all the pics yet so ill get more up as i get them .

Th noraml rust on the arch ,but this is getting replaced for a new one when we paint the car in a couple of weeks .

We gave it a clean and put a set of wheels from the garage on to smarten it up ,they are getting dumped for a new set of black 17" dare RLS

Some of the painted parts

Ill get some pics of the whole engine in the car up soon .but apart from the rusty arch the car is mint and the interior has no wear what so ever and will be getting a re sray in the next couple of weeks ,its staying red and will be getting some subtle touches .One thing is sure its staying an SXi there is no chance this is getting gte bumpers .

i think we shud hav a stand @ the nxt PVS just for the SXI/SRI models,

what does evryone think?

Kris
03-08-2005, 01:46 AM
I want to smooth off the lines in the grey plastic of the bumpers and get them painted a grey metalic so it still has the SXi look but different .
The srches are good apart from one having some suface rust due to the last owner rolling the arches and never sealing them .These will be replaced with the front arch because the panels are next to nothing due to my mates garage getting trade discount on SEL panels of 50% so a wing is about £9 .

Thats Wot I've Just Done With My Bumpers, Looks Really Good Aswell

Kris
03-08-2005, 01:50 AM
The grille is myt merit one with the slats cut out but its slightly smaller than the SXi one so i might do the same to that one .

As for the plate i never ever noticed that NSX bit ,could be worth a try ,lol.

MK2-JOHN
03-08-2005, 01:53 AM
i know wot iu mean about the grille, the edges on the sxi version r thinner making the hole in the center slightly bigger,

i'm making sum 1 off quater panel vents for the sxi, u intersted in sum?

if u r then i'll post sum pics wen i finish them off

Kris
03-08-2005, 01:56 AM
I could be what are you doing to them ,i was going to get some Nexia quarters .Any pics of your bumpers ?

MK2-JOHN
03-08-2005, 02:07 AM
aint got any pics just yet,

i dnt really want to say what i'm doing to the 1/4 vents coz i want to get mine finished 1st & start making them for other models ov the astra if they catch on,

but as soon as mine r finished then u'll be the 1st to c them & if u like them then i'll sort u out with sum

Kris

A m8 from me has build a nexx-dett cabrio :D (kadett e)

so the front was from a nexia and the rear from kadett/astra mk2

that looked nice also. thoug it was some work

Kris
03-08-2005, 09:32 AM
I like the back of the Nexia and would like to put it on a mk2 ,but many have said this would be a massive amount of work .Still one day i might try it .

Hopefully this shouldnt be that much of a task .Bearing in mind i now have full use of a garage with MOT test area and bodyshop ,after hours only .With it being trade it means cheap parts ,panels and paint .

Bout time and all ,lol

Just a quick update on this .Ive not been up to much with the astras as ive been away for a bit but before i went i picked up a pair of Cobra Monaco's out of a mk3 at the scrappys. They are a bit tatty on the wear pads but for £40 im not grumbling plus they are in the same colour sceme as the SXi interiour .I also bought a new set of plates as i dont like the scotland flag on the side of the old ones, and a little mention of the site on the bottom .Apart from the new lock set i got and have now fitted so the car finaly locks completely thats about it .

Their the same as the seat i was telling you about without the red bits.

Kris
13-04-2006, 09:15 PM
The garage is actualy worse the only bit of the floor you can see now is the bit in the pic lol. I want to get some tilting seat frames so i can still use the back seat ,i dont know if its possible to mod the origonal frames ?.

Kris
15-05-2011, 10:40 PM
Well its been unloved and neglected for nealy 4 years sitting on the driveway so i finaly got around to moving the mk2 to my lock up and start stipping it down to get all welded up and painted.

Heres how it looks after and hour of being there, so far its not as bad as i was expecting.
