more of a ripping apart/destruction of a perfectly good astra (rare thing indeed :p )
final spec includes - fibreglass wings, bonnet, boot and bumpers and perspex windows none of which we have made yet  so lets start at the start...

solid, no rust, standard suspension and 200bhp (interesting, you should try it sometime)

t'engine by the way
bought some goodies - cut slicks & cage

so here we are to this point, a pic of the buildup

then it all went horribly pear shaped when i ran into a company called RSC motorsport...
spot the cage lmao

not putting many pics up just now, so you will have to wait a few weeks to see the result ;)

Brett you need to cut down on pies:p
All the glass could go, and a nice set of light alloys, mebbie some speedlines, after that its got to be fibreglass/carbonfibre panels and start drilling out metal in non critical areas which in a monocoque chassis I would of thought were few and far between!
Rob you dont fill the cabin with Hydrogen do you, that'll reduce unspring weight:rolleyes:

If you've ever had the pleasure of cutting up a GTE 16v shell, which i did recently you'll find the bulk of the weight is around the axel mounts, front chasis and wish bone mounts...
The sunroof is a large weight, along with the doors. Once the interior is dumped, theres only little savings all over really..

sunroof, doors, tailgate, bonnet, 45 litres of fuel lol yeah they are all fairly hefty

The box my fibreglass bonnet turned up in is heavier than the bonnet.. hehe..

yeah that sunroof is a whopper. it weighs the same as a single gte recaro, or the whole rear bench seat.

Rob@RSC If you could get your carbon fibre guy to make up a CF panel to sit in the hole left by the sunroof removal I expect you would shift a fair few!

I have and I nearly dropped a bollock when I was lifting the front bulkhead & chassis in to a trailer, that was with three of us too!

This is so indepth. wish i had time to do stuff to mine.
as a learning question how are the fibre glass panels attached? i know the wings bolt on but what do you use in place of welding?
