View Full Version : Trip Computer...........
Has anyone ever seen a Mk2 with the trip computer?
Did they put them on the GTE's only or CD's?
GTEs didnt come standard with a trip computer, CDs possibly did. Not sure if optional extra. MK2 CAV CDI and Calibre(Red saloons with bodykit) both came with trip computers. ;)

Its possible to fit GTE's with the check controll/trip computer from the Mk3 Astra GSI I think.
Brett's got hold of a (IIRC) Monza computer and will be fitting it to his 16v'er, also some models on the continent got one where the clock is on uk models.

yes I have one!!
from a Monza, I bought it at Billing for £3. All I have to do to fit it proper is make my own surround as its slightly smaller than the hole where the analogue clock goes. Had it plugged in and working at the show on sunday.
For whats it worth, its not an option on UK model MK2 Astra's. Mk2 Cav CD it was only ever an extra cost option, same goes for the Carlton MK1 CD. It was only fitted as standrad to the Monza GSE, and the MK1 Senator 3.0i CD.
in other words, they are like rocking horse s***

yeah all you do is plug and play. The computer plug is green, thin and normally taped to the amin loom up behind the hazard warning lights switch somewhere. Liberate it, plug the computer in and away you go.
I belive though in mine the fuel consumption will be inaccurate as theI assume Monza 3.0i 12v runs different injectors to an XE. I need to get it reprgrammed, theres a guy on MIG who does the later Cav GSi style ones so I need to speak to him about doing the older ones.
Im going to put the switches for the heated seats either side of the computer (Im using Carlton switches they suite the MK2 better than the Calibra ones) these are now connected up, Ive hust got to plug the seats into the passenger footwell control box.

its not in the car yet mate, I dont have the correct surround for it and I need to get some materials to make one, which I cant do untill saturday. I'lll post them up when thats done. Ive got to make similar surrounds for the heated seat switches at the same time so expect a short wait.
I Will do some though:D
