Another nice photo. This was when we went to Jamaica for an international rally. At that time, the engine was a standard 8V 2.0L engine with 116K miles on it. On day one, we broke a driveshaft on the first stage, and then when we changed it, the car started smoking progressively worse. When had the car towed to a workshop, and from 7:30pm to 5:30am, pulled down the engine and changed one piston due to a broken ring land. We got the car back together, and drove to the start for 6:30am and ran in the engine at 6,250rpm on the first stage of day two! The result was fastest 2WD overall on day 2, against modified cars and cars with limited-slips!

Our closest competition are a RWD Corolla with a 2.0L 16V Toyota Engine, close ratio box and no expense spared, and a RWD-converted Escort Cosworth running a 6-speed dog box, and a Naturally Aspirated YB Engine putting out about 250 BHP. They are running 4-pots all round, and we are still using the std. front calipers with a Hi-Spec 285mm disc conversion, and standard read DRUM breaks. We still come out in front. In fact, earlier this year, we were running a std. XE engine with bolt on 45mm carbs, exhaust manifold, Cavalier distributor and 280 duration cams and we beating them even then when we pushed.
