  • My last of the line 1992 Astra cabby

Thought I'd post some pics of my astra on the moors today; just cleaned it but confess I left the wheels because it was freezing here and my hands had gone numb.

Had this from new; bought it with my ex even though we really couldn't afford it at the time and it wasn't practical for where we were living; always thought we'd buy a dark blue GTE; think they still look awesome today.

This has 33k on the clock now; I'm using it daily at the moment because I've just lost my works car. Still feels great to drive; could do with a bit of tlc now but I haven't got a clue myself about where to start. I'd really like to keep it original (am planning a new jbl system tho). Hopefully I can get some good advice next year at some of the meets? As I was washing it today I was reminded of my neighbour painting his fence (my side of it) a few years ago; didn't tell me he was planning to do it, just squeezed beside my car and the fence when I was out one day and carried on; needless to say he got the car and I can still see the spots today; can anyone suggest what I can use to get it off? Louise.

May I be the first to say it looks lovely?

Paint spots can sometime sbe removed using white spirit, classic case of 'try it somewhere you won't notice' first I'm afraid.

      In fact...

just looked at your number plate - that was bought from Sidcup, about 3 miles, if that, from my house.

        Thanks Ian!

Well spotted, it was bought from the main dealers near Frogpool Manor; we grew up near there.

The spots are a washy brown colour so I'm hoping they're not actually paint but some sort of light fence treatment. Won't do anything until one of you actually sees it just incase I b'''''ger it up.

Always had a soft spot for the Exclusive but never seen one without drivers bolster damage or faded seats.

Good looking car m8, look after her.

I was told there were only 400 made like this; this is no.157 (stickers with the personal number were issued with the car - 'stickers' can you believe!). Has nearly always been garaged, but have taken its upkeep a little for granted... seeing all the fantastic cars on the site and the work necessary to keep them immaculate has made me realise that I can't become complacent about its condition.

Little and often to keep the girl looking good works for me.

There's loads of ways to sort them trims.

                          Lookin good

Autoglyms bumpercare treatment does a good job of bringing the trims back up

Is that for the bumpers and rubber side trim, or just the bumpers?
