View Full Version : Track Champion
Start of a new project so I thought start the diary from the first day
Picked this up from Coventry this afternoon

83k on the clock with a load of old mot's and service books to back it up. Going on that it's only been doing around 5k a year since new.
The only essential work needed on it is replace one of the sills and give it a service (plugs, cambelt etc) other than that it's tidying it up
I've got a shed full of bits waiting to go on like a complete dark interior, seats plastics everything, so they'll be put on over the next week or 2 ready for the retro cars show
For some reason it already has a black dash and dark centre console (don't mind it saves me having to rip the old one out) but I thought these all came with biege dashes except the champions

Looks like a nice one. I assume the champion badges were stuck on after?
I'm very interested in the front seats and door cards if mint.

i've been in the boot and the carpets that cover the inner wheel arches are black as well  it looks like the interior has been swapped at some time, the steering wheel, pedals and seatbelts match up with the mileage on the dash (that is there all in good condition) but the front drivers seat is worn on the bolsters
did vauxhall ever do the dark interior as an option like they did with analogue dails on the gte?
The door cards have been cut to fit speakers in i was going to bin them the passenger seat seems in good condition if anybody needs a cheap replacement

looks tidy! what did you pay for it? so is it a champion and someone has pinched the leather and put some old seats in?
it looks like a champ badge on the tailgate ?
astrasteve23
15-06-2005, 01:40 AM
yeah it is a champ badge, so is it a champion?

i saw that on ebay and i thourt it was a champ as its got the black dash the champ badges and the semi cucle revcounter as my mates ripped one apart  a few years back and it had all the same stuff in it. ive got the rear door cards in my shed
it looks well looked after how shiney is it i bet you can see your face in it
didn't get much done today as it's done nowt but piss it down all day :(
did manage to get rid of the silver line that the previous owner put on the car and took it over to my mates place to check why the engine management light was on.the management light was down to a dodgy lamda sensor.
got a break in the weather this evening so I decided to go out to the B roads for a quick blast and found out the rear wheels catch the arches so tomorrow the cav gsi rims are going on.
how can you tell if a champ is a champ ,do thet have it on the V5 or is there anything on the car ie codes or vin numbers as apposed to the visual things like badges and leather ?

as far as I know they don't have anything on the v5 same as the cav sri 130's (they just said sri on the v5) I thought all champions were registered in London as well
best bet is to ask some of the champ owners on here and have a look at thier cars when we're at santa pod
i'm going to put my dark interior in today so i'll get some pic's of the car before and after

We think it's a Champion model.
thats a nice looking astra gte its the same colour as my gte how come yours as got a black dash in it as i got a beige dash in mine which i hate i want a black one
Funny you should say that Bartrum the owner of this fine Mk2 has a black dash for sale
http://www.astra-mk2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1674
had a back to black day today
first job was to get rid of the biege. IT didn't take too long the car feels and looks loads better. Also fitted a new lock set as well.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/bordeux04.jpg
Took the alloys off that it came with as they were catching on the rear arches, when I got the off they had et37 stamped on the back. Fitted my old cav gsi rims, these were painted anthracite to go on my first bordeux red gte and i'd forgot how much they suited it.
Used a scotchbrite pad to rub down all the bumpstrips and skirts and gave them a coat of bumper gel to keep them dark and replace the front towing eye cover
last job to do was give it a good wash, hover and a quick polish then have a run out and get some pics
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/bordeux07.jpg

How much was it in the end?
£900, best thing is thats roughly the same amount I got for striping the old one :)
just noticed this on ebay
champion leather (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4556947965&fromMakeTrack=true)
I think a trip to the bank is in order
that leather looks in fappin excelent nick ,if you got that i very doubt anyone wouldnt say its a champ .
Looking good!
I bet that leather fetches a few pennies though! It looks mint.
yeah it will go for a bomb ,i tryed to get some rear seats only a bit back and they went for £120 on there own .
astrasteve23
17-06-2005, 12:58 AM
your car is looking very nice, and the wheels look good! get some mk4 astra clear side repeaters on it! and get the champ leather!
it did have a "buy it now" on it earlier of £600, i'll get meself a statement tomorrow, i've lost track of all the money i've spent this week.
if I can afford it that means i'll have a 83k champion for £1500 :)

bargain!
richie00boy
17-06-2005, 11:45 AM
Bargain price on the motor, looks in great nick, clean and quite low miles. I'm sooo jealous!
I was going to fit my stereo but it was too hot to be sat in a car all day so all I managed to do was fit the front strutbrace and start to finish off my rocker cover
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/polishedrocker.jpg
how did you do them ,did you get a polishing kit ?
how did you do them ,did you get a polishing kit ?
took the old paint off with nitromors, then started sanding them down starting with coarse stuff gradually moving down to 2000 then polishing up with autosol.
Its pretty easy once you get into it, the worse bit is stripping the old paint off as some of it doesn't want to budge.
The sparkplug cover is a piece of piss to do, strip the old powder coating off with paint stripper paint it whatever colour you want, then use a sanding block to take the paint off the letters back down to the metal
the green scotch brite pads give a very nice shine/polish to metal .
Its been trial and error really, trying to work out what works best
astrasteve23
18-06-2005, 12:57 AM
that cam cover looks very nice, and very cheap to do by the sounds of it!
£5 for the nitromors, £5 for the autosol and the sandpaper I got from my mate for free
astrasteve23
18-06-2005, 02:25 PM
bargain!
Got my cd player and speakers in today. Nothing fancy kenwood cd/mp3 player, 10cm kenwoods in the dash and a pair of 6/9's on the back shelf one slight hiccup though I slipped with the screwdriver fitting the passenger side dash speaker :o so make that one 10cm kenwood in the dash
had to remove my ally fuel cap with mole grips today as I snapped the (only) key in it luckily I had the original fuel cap that came with the lockset
did almost panic as it didn't want to come off and there was no fuel in the car either (when I did get it off there was a loud hiss from the empty tank)
Under the bonnet I put a new set of plugs in and fitted my battery bag that I "borrowed" from a vectra when I used to sell cars
last jobs left to do before Retro Cars are give it a service, fit the v6 front brakes I bought ages ago and fit the rear strutbrace
I was going to replace the shagged sill but I wont be able to get it painted in time
richie00boy
19-06-2005, 10:06 PM
If you get a pressure release when taking off the filler cap then look to see if the breather pipe on the tank is blocked. It's a black flexible plastic pipe about 7-8mm diameter. I know 8v ones defo have one and I'd have thought 16v ones did as well.
Give the engine bay a bit of a tidy up, fitted the polished rocker and cambelt covers and replaced the induction hoses as both of them had splits in them
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/xe01.jpg
while I had the airbox out I gave it a clean underneath and it was pretty solid under there except for a spot of rust as big as a 50p.
only problem fitting polished stuff is makes everything else look muckier so i'm going to polish up the spare fan and surround i've got replace the heat shield then leave it as it is.
while I was doing up the last bolt on the cambelt cover I noticed the car's got goodridge brake hoses already fitted :) I never even noticed them when I bought the car even though I checked the arches
here it is all put back together
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/xe03.jpg
ordered a new exhaust as well, a Piper stainless system that'll de-cat as well with twin 3 inch outwardly rolled pipes, as I plan to keep the car a while thought i'd treat it (and my mate gets a good discount as a piper dealer ;) ) so that should be here by the end of the week
astrasteve23
20-06-2005, 08:45 PM
looking good. what size bore is the exhaust system do you know?
looking good. what size bore is the exhaust system do you know?
i'm not sure tbh, i'm not expecting a massive bhp jump should get a bit though as mines started blowing from the middle so i'll be loosing some power from that
treated the car to a full set of toyo proxes t1-r's. I got fed up of having a set of mixed make tyres, the back 2 needed replacing anyway so at £41 quid each I thought I might as well get a set.
The car chalked up it's first kill the other day aswell, I was on my way to work when I saw one of my mates in his Fiesta RS1800i and he decided to have a go at the lights, the next time I saw him he came out with his pre-emptive excuse before I even mentioned it, muttering something about the fse valve making it sluggish
Steam cleaned the engine bay, door shuts and arches to get rid of the road shite thats been building up in all the hard to reach places.
fitted a lightly polished up fan and surround, a pain in the arse to fit as there's sod all room. It just needed some brute force, swearing and some cut knuckles.
just got the brakes to swap and the new exhaust should arrive tomorrow. Looks like saturday's gonna be a busy day
Exhaust arrived yesterday so had an early finish from work to fit it so i've got one less job tomorrow
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/newzorst01.jpg
noticed the difference straight away. it pulls nice and smooth whereas with the leaky Janspeed that was already fitted seemed jerky when you put your foot down, even before it started blowing but that probably more to do with getting rid of the cat than anything else.
That exhaust looks well tidy matey, im liking it!! Its not too extreme but its noticeably different from the original. Looks the dogs matey ;)
Had some new number plates made up as well

its what you use in bodyshops to key the paint up, same as the rough bit on the back of sponges.

Got loads of green back sponges, will they be ok?
try it, wont do it any harm, dont think it'll work as well tho
i'll bring one with me on sunday
didn't get to fit the front brakes instead got the rear strutbrace fitted and got rid of the silicone round the sunroof where its been leaking, just hope it doesn't rain anytime soon
gave the outside a clean and a polish, done the best I can for the time being. its gonna be a few weeks before I can get the paint sorted properly as there are a few rust spots that need sorting

Zetec turbo I spy?
won this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7987370143&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT) on ebay and they arrived yesterday. needed to do something about the suspension after seeing everyone else's car at Retrocars, mine looked like a landrover compared to all the others :o going to fit them at the weekend along with the V6 brakes i've been threatening to fit for ages
cielo20
27-07-2005, 04:24 AM
nice kit!! you would just buy one shock with that price not a full kit!!!111111
fitted the spax suspension, first time i'd ever done it after afew teething problems it was easier than I thought. the shockers that were aleady fitted were spax sportline ones, the same as the ones that replaced them but they were on standards springs  they've been on a while judging by the state of the back shocks and one of the front shocks wouldn't come back out when it was pushed in
on the way home it felt loads better, sharper turn in and more stable especialy in the bends can't wait to get a dry road to test em properly :D
Took it out tonight for a road test. still a bit damp up north but stuck to the road well. Even when the grip did let go it was a easy to get back
The back feels a lot better behaved as well, with hardly any body roll definatly feel more confident through corners.
Only noticably downside is the cd player skips a bit more than usual  better than the koni adjustables I had on a 205 gti tho, after hitting a bump in the road in that you needed new fillings
now the handlings sorted and as soon as the brakes are fitted I can start playing with the engine, so far i've removed the resonator, fitted a K&N panel filter and a full stainless exhaust from the manifold back.
Wanting to get to a reasonable power level without fitting tb's or turboing as its my daily driver. I can get cams reprofiled to fast road for a decent price through my mates company ;) still unsure about chipping, is it worth it on n/a engines?
Any other suggestions are more than welcome
richie00boy
31-07-2005, 01:12 AM
Glad you're being intelligent and sorting the handling first :)
If you're gonna cam it then a suitable chip is the sensible thing to do to sort out the changes in fuelling. However Superchips etc I'm doubtfull will be any real match.
Watch out for the cam reprofiling, better to get a virgin cam if you can. Reprofiled cams have higher lifter velocity.
Glad you're being intelligent and sorting the handling first :)
put my last 16v in ditch (via a pug 405), so not taking any chances this time ;)

know it wasnt your as was in need of some bodywrk urgently!
this one
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/P7310023.jpg
it's been de-leathered as well :(
fixed the handbrake cable and found out why the abs was going nuts, it was down to a loose sensor on the front passenger side wheel. it was slightly out of line and must have thought the wheels were locking up and kept backing the brakes off when I needed to stop
see if I can last till the mot on wednesday without busting anything else :)
replaced the driver side sill as there was sod all left under the skirts and patched up a hole inside passenger side front wheel arch. theres a couple of bits left to patch but they're nothing major and can wait till I replace the front wings over the winter

yea thats it who owns it and what is on the zorst
went round the car checking as much as possible for the mot. replaced the nsf headlight as one of the clips that hold it still was bust and painted up the sill in primer ready to be painted on thursday
my uncle picked up the car for the mot tomorrow. is it me or does it feel wrong to see someone else driving your car?
passed the mot :D 12 months till i've got to do it all again,. want to keep the car as tidy as possible so no last minute running about like a nutter again.
couple of things my uncle mentioned, "its got an oil leak from the sump" and "its got torque steer when you put your foot down" he's no fan of gte's specially when I told him both of those faults are standard :)
had a day up at york raceway with mig today. managed to get 17 runs in and get my time down from 15.302
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/yorkaug05.jpg
gonna try the car the same on the 25th september at santa pod, see if I can creep into the high 14's as its a better track than york, a lot stickier, had loads of wheelspin off the line on some of the runs
richie00boy
28-08-2005, 08:37 PM
What cars did you come up against? How did you fare against them?
there were 7 in the mig class and most had turbo's or nitros, the only one I could have any sort of competition was a mk3 gsi on bike bodies but that pulled out due to a problem on the inlet manifold.
I had the the only gte there, there was a belmont but never got chance to speak to the driver
went up against a few different cars won a few lost a few, had a good time tho and the car was faultless all day :) definatly considering a let conversion now tho. went up against barrygte in his sleeper nova let a few times, got away from the line a bit better than him but as soon as the boost came in 3rd it was byyeee!!
just rang autovaux to price up some bits for the turbo conversion:- cambelt kit £65+vat and water pump £22.95.
I asked about the tensioners and got told as the engine is a late 96 one with the black sparkplug cover it uses the twin rollers that are suposed to be better. does that sound about right?

so you beat some of the turboed a nd nos cars from mig? or i got it wrong?
If so what times were they running?????
the other tubro'd and nitros stuff I didn't stand a chance against, they were doing between 13.0 and low 14's. didn't come last in the group tho as the bike bodies on the mk3 gsi seemed to be doing more hare than good plus mines totally standard except for an stainless exhaust so I wasn't expecting much anyway just wanted to use it as practice for santa pod
when it was back to open session it did some decent runs and beat a few cars, at one point I was up against a fiesta RST and got off the line quicker and was pulling ahead until I made an arse of thr gear change and lost loads of time :o
what I like about RWYB's is you've no idea what the car next to you is capable of there was an orange poverty spec clio but with a turbo lump under the bonnet
never mind it was a good laugh and next time things should be a little different :)
cielo20
08-09-2005, 12:24 AM
mine is standard too! the only thing is i run it without an airfilter (as there is the airflow meter net that holds everything! and it runs 14.5 1/4 mile :)
so next time you should match that!!!! :D
so next time you should match that!!!! :D
next time it'll have a let ;) :D

picked up the calibra the other night and going to rip out the let at the weekend. whatevers left's going on ebay to try and get some money back. might try to sell it as a rolling shell as, I hate to say it, it's too good to scrap
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/calibrat.jpg
finally got the let out of the calibra and showed it it's new home :D

Hmm Baz, I know this is a little off topic at the moment but wanted to get dibsies... I'm having real asshole luck with my Timing and Bargains at the moment.
what brakes are on the Calibra?
May also have an interest in the wheels. are they 4 or 5 stud?
Are the seatbelts any good? would they fit an Astra.

got the front suspension legs but the disc's and wheels are 5 stud, the front disc's and pads are brand new. the seat belts have gone with the cali to the scrappers i'm affraid :( used my mates workshop so only had the weekend to strip off as much as I could
i'll get some pics up of the wheels, there the later type (irmsher pentalines, same as whats on sipo's old gte but 16's) 2 good tyres 2 on the tread wear limiters
gearbox has gone off to converted to fwd and while it's there it will also be adapted to be a mechanical speedo as its a later box. all in it'll cost £100, ive seen the diy kits but tbh it's one job i'd rather not have to worry about

looking good mate , thats cheap to get the gearbox sorted pm me there name and i need the f20 speedo ring puttin in
S&D transmissions Doncaster, ask for daz. he used to own a gte turbo himself so he knows his stuff and he's got a good reputation.
iirc it was stripped out with the zender wide arch kit running a turbo'd XE on carbs. next time I see him i'll see if he's got any pics of it, a pic was posted on here ages ago when the bloke he sold it to put it on ebay but I can't find it

not a lover of calibras, can't see the attraction tbh. prefer the cav turbo any day
should have seen the state of it when i'd finished with it, it was like an automotive version of Hellraiser

used my mates workshop. had to strip the car on my own, would have been shagged without it. wouldn't mind a workshop like that for meself, i'd go machine mart mental :D
Ha ha your gonna have so much fun when that LET goes in, trust me :D :D

hammerite no good then? used it on brake calipers before with no problems.. but those heat up and cool down, the block will be hot constantly with a turbo glowing next to it.. I see now (just typing out loud :)) had some hammerite left over from doing the front gate aswell :D never mind
Hammerite is fine, did mine with it and its not flaking off ;)

Hammerite is fine, did mine with it and its not flaking off ;)
that'll do for me, need to get a wire drill bit to get in all the hard to reach places & corners tho. want the job to look as tidy as possible
not done much to car lately except drive it to work and back :( looks like i've got a new job with company car so I can take it off the road and get cracking, it's also a vauxhall site meaning staff discount at the parts department :D
the XE, gearbox and exhaust's sold to F'astra1.4 off here who's gonna rebuild it ready for when he gets a GTE of his own.
trying to work out my to do list at the moment but it's not going to take long once I get started. the biggest job being prepping the shell ready for the let as there are one or two bits of rust in there.
on my way home and the car sounded rough as hell, found the exhaust manifold has totally split all the way round at the join :( don't understand why it's split so quick as i've not noticed it blowing at all
last time I had an exhaust go like that it was on my old XR2 and that was down to a split engine mount. you could feel the block moving but this time never felt anything??
happened at the right time tho as I get my new company car tomorrow and the gte is going off road and getting the engine removed ready for it's new home :)

 my mum has one of those lol
had the new VXR for a few days and if anything it's made me want to crack on with getting the GTE sorted. going to change my plans tho as my house is now up for sale and I should make a few quid (hopefully) so i'll be putting a bit aside and giving the GTE a proper restoration.
I do like the VXR tho, it handles brilliant, spent last night out and about in it had a bit of a run with a imprezza turbo and found it can corner easily as well as the subaru and out pace them as well. Gonna try to blag it for the ford v's vauxhall day at santa pod, want to see it get wasted by a let'd mk2 :)

had to keep the mk2 behind bars tho it was scaring the VXR

well chuffed with it, no rips, burns, tears or scuffs. at £300 i'd say they were a bargain :applause:
don't think the lad had any idea what they were worth tbh, he'd had the fronts in a cav GSI and the rears were stored away in his garage. Gonna get them fitted on my day off :Banane47:

the fella you bought them off deals with cavaliers he has bought and sold mainly cav gsi's in the last year but also breaks the cav diplomats so he probably thought they were just normal leather or something along them line lmao!!
started fitting the leather, was gonna wait till everything else was done but couldn't help myself. Also got a chance to check why it was blowing and found the the exhaust manifold wasn't split, the 2 bolts had come off

will be going for a full paint in the next 2 weeks as well, while that's being done i'll get the engine ready so shouldn't be too long now :Banane42:

the cars booked in for a respray, goes in on monday meantime i've started on getting the engine ready
almost lost it last week, i'm staying at my mates place at the moment and when I was out at a bbq last weekend we had visitors after my car. luckily for me the keys for it was in my works van, unluckily for my mate they found the key to his suzuki GSXR600 and p*ssed off on that instead :grumpy:
picked up my new wheels today :veryhappy:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/BK299s.jpg
had a trip to autovaux for some service bits for the let, new cambelt, water pump, exhaust, rocker cover & inlet gaskets, an 8v sump gasket and new studs for the turbo. got some shiny bits from the XE to fit and will be ordering a set of silicon hoses to finish it off
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/letbits.jpg
finally got round to giving the block a coat of hammerite just to tidy it up a bit, just waiting on an engine stand now so I can get it ready. the cars now gone off for paint and the F28 is being put back together now and will be done next week :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/letblock.jpg
got the engine up on a stand started on the cambelt and water pump bit hit a problem. as I was tightening up the water pump bolts the pump cracked
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/bartrum/82cd8919.jpg
don't understand how it's gone like that, it was sat flush and I spent ages cleaning out were it sits also sanded down the built up shite inside. I was using a brand new torque wrench (set to 25nm as per the haynes manual for the XE) as well
got to wait untill tuesday now to get it finished :(
went down to the bodyshop to check how it's going :)

was getting a lttle worried it wasn't gonna be ready in time for Retro as it is it's still gonna be a work in progress as there are a few bits i'm struggling to get hold of but at least it's gonna be there
got some pics of it (finally) painted, it's taken them ages but i'm well chuffed with the result :D :D

tbh mate, I couldn't sell it now even if I wanted to. the grin I got when I saw it, I couldn't beleive it was the same car and that was only half built
I must have about £3000 in it at the moment, including £1300 for the respray. there's still a few bits to sort like the vinyl strip on the boot and try to find a brand new NS quarter bump strip (same as Ian T ordered a full set of bump strips to find one piece was no longer available :duh: ) then it's done(ish ;))
looks like i'll be stuck with 2 champs for the near future :D
She's back :D sorry about the size just wanted to show off the finish :)

need some early finishes this week to get it ready for retro, still need to swap the wheels over, leather door cards, get all the champ decals fitted, get the tracking sorted and give it a service and whatever else I can't remember at the mo

Now I don't swear on forums very often so I'll stifle the words here.
That looks blinking gorgeous, really really lovely. Another one to drool next to (not over) at Retro!
In the end I bought an extra door rubber on the basis I might be able to cut it down to fit to the NSR arch. Haven't done so yet, and probably won't have chance before Retro, but it seems sensible to try. Nicer than refitting the old one.
Ian.

Have a chat to Harvey, if you ask him now he can get some very similar vinyl in 2m lengths, enough for the whole car.
Ian.
spent tonight getting the leather cleaned up from all the dust from the bodyshop and swapped a few bits from the GTE. Still got to swap the 17's and give it a service ready for the strip :) (yes I do know the 17's are gonna mean i'm slower but i'll look good while i'm at it ;))
been to Autovaux today to order some new inserts for the front bumper, would have bought the full set but surprize you can get it any more. you can get the top 2 bumpstrips but only one part of the lower splitter. found out there's 2 different colours for the plastic bumper trims - grey and blue/grey, you learn something new every day

glad you've got it full "championess" now mate.
nearly there, guess this diaries pretty much done now except for the odd....
"bulb blown...changed bulb"
....there's feck all left to do
still there's plenty left to do on the turbo :D I can do all things that I wanted to do to this one. a couple of my mates have suggested putting the let in this one and having the other as an original champ but the fact that which ever gets the let is gonna spend most of it's life getting thrashed and tailgating scoobies...i'd rather that be the one that's already got stonechips on it. this one has only got 90500 miles on it so it's gonna be worth more if I hang onto it and just bring it out for shows and the odd blast now and then

That's what I thought, and I'm sure there are a few bling heads on here that would want in on a small group buy. They're not east items to get hold of.

can't do owt till I get my car sorted :irked: cheers for the link tho
finally got off my arse and started on the car. started by taking the head off and having a look at the pistons, they are in good condition, a few small det marks but nothing to worry about. took the sump off and removed the pistons and had a good look at the crank. I was hoping to get away with just replacing the shells but sadly the crank got some scoring on it, nothing major but I want to make sure everythings right so i'm not doing this again in 6 months time.
i'll be replacing the oil pump, rings, get myself an nylon releif valve and anything else i come across. i think, seeing as the pistons are healthy, i'll just be using a 1.9mm gasket to lower the compression and with the money i would've spent get myself an a'pexi boost controller and get the whole lot set up properly. i might be getting my hands on a wizards of nos kit, it's on my mates skyline at the moment but he's selling the car and given me first refusal. the engine in it's current spec did a 13.4, i'm hoping next year to get it into the 12's
gratuitous let in bits shot :(

yeah think im gonna go with the gas too soon Baz,
lookin good this car, hopefully be parked next to it sometime next year!!:)
just bought myself another LET :) i was looking on ebay earlier and saw one near me so rang the number and bought it complete for £700. it come with everything - ecu, loom turbo, inlet, XE inlet cam, Z20LET injectors, wallace performance 1.1mm head gasket and a coscast head rebuilt last year. it's getting fitted this week, not sure about the Z20LET injectors though so for the time being it's just the block that's getting fitted as the inlet manifold is still in the car with the loom
with a bit of luck the astra will be back on the road by the end of the week :D

Yummy, bet your pleased it's running again.
relieved is more the word. it's not taxed at the moment so I can't go far but i've had a few cheeky blasts round the block though :) it's only running standard boost for the moment till I can sort the smoking out but still feels quick
