calling all insurance guru's

I have fully comp insurance do i have an option to repair the van myself ie make sure the other party gets sorted but not put a claim in for the van,
or will they write it off and i have to buy it back cos if they cat d it i'm gonna have lost the lot.

Spoken to the insurance company i get the option to repair it myself so have taken that option gonna strip it back and see if its anything more than cosmetic damage

never heard that before, i've always been told to get 2 written quotations and send them in to the insurers and they arrange it from there. if the quote's are excessive i think they send an insurer out to access the damage and then decide wether it's worth while repairing or writing off.

i took the repair it myself option. but that was with the 3rd party insurers, not my own. fixed settlement.

i had an old man pull off then slam on his brakes for no reason...whilst quickly looking to my right i proceeded to smack him from behind.

I settled it with £150 cash to glue his back bumper and to fit another plastic no plate light surround. I offered to buy him a better sierra newer with alloys and spoiler [£75 as seen on ebay] but he wasnt havin it and wanted to keep his D reg old banger !
i ended my contract as with whiplash lost 3 weeks pay...the current client decided he wasnt gonna sign my last timesheet in my absence...so it cost me alot in net lost earnings
