  • very disappointed with my c20let

well after putting months of time, money and effort into my champ turbo.it was 99% ready........
all i had to do was sort out insurance, take to have tracking sorted and then rolling road tuned.
i went out to my garage this afternoon to get the car out to give it a clean.so i leant into the car and started it so i could warm it up and open the garage door.i then took the oil cap off just to check and there was just the normal droning and oil spitting out.sounded sweet
it was all running ok 2 or so minute's so i opened the car door and got in and gave it a rev.
but then i noticed the red square light that is on the oil pressure gauge.and no yellow bars,as i noticed i quickly switched it off.but as i noticed it started knocking.

so was knocking for 2 seconds maximum.

i then opened up the oil cap again to find alot of white steam.

so at the moment i've still got steam coming out my ears and so much anger you would'nt beleive.

    any idea's on damage?

i've just got to have the sump off and have a look.

if it's just spun a shell and i can get away with a new oil pump that would be good.but i bet it will be alot worse.

Oh dear, it sounds bad.. Seems to be a few going the same way lately and they are mostly due to the oil pressure relief valve sticking..

            Uncle Monty says:
Stay cool...i aint driven my champ turbo for a year since the circa 10 mile Evo racing.....ill get back to mine when the burning desire comes back!

I have a maestro TDi / vectra / N/a GTE for my old reliable when these moments happen so ive always got wheels and when desire and money consumate i'll work on it again!
I aint looked at my oil pressure relief valve so mine probably on its way too

Old GTE is the ultimate cult hot hatch and aint 100% perfect so we have to make allowances and adjustments to wallet thickness sometimes

No consolation but iam feeling for ya mate, its an empty feeling when ya gte an aint running i know it so well !

              Sorry to hear this Lee.

Stick at it mate. We all know what a headache Mk2s can be at times, but it's worth puttting up with as they're such fun when they are running well.

A nylon oil pressure reliefe valve is only £60 from SBD. Its a lot for what it is but considering the potential saving if something goes wrong with the original.

I dont know why more people dont do it tbh.

Gutted to hear this mate. I was really looking forward to us both bombing round snetterton next month

Just don't break/sell her tho. Just get it all fixed and sorted in your own time otherwise you'll regret it!
