Mate what gear was you in to get those readings?

Daza
25-04-2005, 07:19 PM
Fourth. Got a vid to come aswell...

Ross_Mk2
25-04-2005, 07:20 PM
why 4th? should it be faster than that?

Daza
25-04-2005, 07:24 PM
I'm sure it was fourth. If it was in third it would have spun like f*ck on the rollers! Not sure about the speed thing, but trust me it's quick on the road. ;)

Ross_Mk2
25-04-2005, 07:26 PM
yeah its 300bhp i would expect it to be :D just the speed does'nt seem to tally up, but i aint no expert

Heathercdi

usually use fourth gear as most accurate gear

Fair enough, but then you don't get the full spec of the car

Still looking great! I had the copy of Revs as well back in the day. Absolutely awesome power, whats your best up the strip Daza?

Sipo

Yes indeed, that must be a monster on the roads and track! How does your car do up againts cars like the imprezza etc Daza, or whats the quickest car you have raced and kept up with? 300 HP in a semi stripped car must keep you up with some high performance cars?!

Thanks for the comments!
Yeah it is pretty fast. My best time at santa pod was a 13.56 @ 107mph, which i'm quite happy with.
Tbh i can't see me beating that time until i get a few more mods done.
On the road i think my favorite car i beat was a kitted out Porsche Carrera 4. The no plate was STVNT, hence he was a stunt man!
He ended up flashing me to pull over on the duel carrideway to find out what i had under the bonnet.
I was quite chuffed with that! :D

rear wheel drive and you will knock a fair chunk off that I reckon ;)

Whats traction like? Your time is only slightly slower (13.2) than my mates EVO4 with 330BHP. Would be nice to tell him a Mk2 Astra kicked his ass lol.

Traction is the main issue with fwd. I was thinking more about jacking the back up and running smaller wheels (same width) with a higher profile sticky tyre, something like Toyo R888.
Hopefully that should see the times drop a bit.
Plus more engine mods of course!

With the wheels/tyres i'm using at the moment and suspension setup it's a nightmare. 1st and 2nd are a total waste of time! 3rd gear is when you really start to shift.
All fast 4wd cars obviously beat me off the lights, it's only when i get it into 3rd and onwards you start to reel them in.

I'd imagin that if you had a bit more traction you would be hitting high 12's then??

That's what i'm aiming for!! Think i've still got quite a way to go tho!

I see you have daywhooooo handles. Were they difficult to fit?

I think you can hit the 12.9 mark with some good 'drag radials' tyres.

The Daewoo handles along with all the other exterior mods where carried out by the previous owner.
The changes i've done are mostly all mechanical, (total engine rebuild uprating/replacing almost every part under the bonnet) also the new seats, harnesses and various other bits on the interior.

Yea decent tyres with low pressure and some softer dampers on the front and raise the back up, should do the trick.
The suspension setup is so low and rock hard at the moment as soon as the wheels start to spin up the car starts bouncing and skipping on the tarmac. :D
It's really not setup properly for the pod.
I know i can reduce my times, it just means forking out even more money which i haven't got!

same as mine with the traction third was a good gear to catch up to 4wd people in.

Yeah beating the more 'superior sports cars' on the road is what it's all about for me! Although it's not very well at the moment.. :(

Cheers mate.
My main problem is trying to find out if my fuel pump is fooked. I've got my old pump in the garage which i'll stick back on tomorow with a new filter to see if the current pump is at fault....Fingers crossed!

your car looks very nice! nice to see non GTE bumpers for a change! i think it all looks good! not sure on the daewoo handles. nice spec too! hope you get the fuel pump sorted!

Daza
27-06-2005, 01:51 AM
Hope i get it sorted too before Retro cars. I don't want to be limping up to santa pod!
Checked for fault codes, boost leaks etc etc. Definitly think it's either pump or filter, will see tomorow!

Just to let everybody know my Astra is definitly up for sale.
Check the spec on the first page of this post for all info on the car.
I will take £4000 for it as I really need the money to get a decent van.
On the other hand if anyone has a clean low milage Citroen Relay they want to swap I may be very interested!

how much was this car?

Sipo
26-03-2006, 01:14 PM
Not sure how much it sold for. Kev Reid was going to be buying it but a workmate of Daza's offered him more for it than Kev offered. If you read this Daza, you better be at Retro again this year!

astrasteve23
26-03-2006, 01:26 PM
yeah daza you gotta come to retro this year! you supplying the food again? lol.

Hello lads how is everyone!!? It's been a while!!
What date is Retro's, I was planning on going again this year coz last year was such a crack!!
Would be good to catch up and see how everyones cars are commin on etc.
Has Brett finished his astra yet?
Have you still got your champ Si?
I take it everyone is staying over the night before again?? Better bring the old faithfull Barby along then!!

Oh BTW I sold my astra to a guy from work called Andy Baxter, he's got to be in his late 40's!
He paid 3.5k for it, which was super cheap, but as you all know I needed the dosh to buy my van and start up my plastering buisiness with my bro!
I still see the guy and as far as I know he's still not driving it yet! He's spent around 3k on it, changed the seats, steering wheel new suspension all round blah blah blah. Engine hasn't been touched though.
At least I know she's still being spoilt!

TBH during the winter I wasn't relly fussed that i'd sold it, but now with the nice sunny weather and all the nice motors driving about i'm really starting to miss it! :(

Driving a transit is nice n cheap, but it doesn't really cut the mustard!

Nice one matey, I do like the old SX's, makes a change from all the GTE's!
I might see if I can buy my car back off of the guy I sold it too.
I mentioned it to him before and he did sound tempted! Problem is the bloody thing is an endless money pit!
