hi everyone. been on mig for a few years and just joined :) cool site

my car is a 1989 astra cabbie it started out as a 1.6 when my wife bought it 8 years ago. then it went to a 2.0 8v now has an xe in it.

i have had it off the road for just over a year but have got and painted new wings, doors (de-handled and locked) it has a badboy bonnet to go on quads and a flush tailgate plus gte bumpers all colour coded aswell.

go a gte 16v wiring loom to fit so i can have the check controll and will try to fot the 16v gear linkage ??? ( any advise will be helpful )

will get some pics soon

cheers ben

Loom: might be best to strip all the unused wires out of the 8v loom and then just add the 16v wires you want for the check computer.
Or just swap the whole loom, not a bad job once the trim is out of the way.

Linkage: the 16v linkage goes through the shell differently but I think you could fit it to an 8v shell. I might have a go on mine because I need some more cheap jobs to do and the 16v quickshift works well.

hi tom the linkage i hope will just be drill big hole in bulkhead and 4 holes to mount the lever then use nuts and bolts the other bit is the rear engine mount the metal bracket holds the linkage

let me know if you do it or i will let you know when i do it

cheers ben

Welcome to the site matey!

SBD16v (Rob) has bored a hole in the bulkhead of his 8v shell to allow for the 16v linkage. Ive got a quickshift on mine and it makes a hell off a difference.

Personally I wouldnt bother with the Check Control though - It'll be a mission to fit all the sensors annd wire them up and afyter all that they rarely work sadly:(
