Here's a vid of the Astra on Plymouths latest 4x4 Rolling Road.
It was getting to 300 Bhp before trying to fly. I never managed to get a decent reading - the operators just guessed it at 350+ which isn't much help.

And then they ran it without strapping it down!

Quick car by the looks of things fella. Bit dodgy running without it strapped down though aint it. That would have made a nasty mess if it had jumped out.

350 bhp would be more powerful than any LET ever recorded in the history of Total Vauxhall magazine (all specs, all regions), by over 50bhp.
Tell us more please.

Nope - my car was a total vauxhall feature car and had the same engine spec back then.

It was the first car in the UK to have the EDS Phase 4 conversion:
K26 Race turbo, Modified bottom end (Oil spray bars) etc, V Tuning Ported / Polished head, EDS 9ltr fmic, EDS Adjustable FPR, Bosch 909 pump, Z20LET head gasket, APEXi AVC-R, Samco's, Magnecors, Denso Iridium plugs, EDS Phase 4 Software. There's loads more - I can never remember.

I remember that one now :)
Is it you that Henryk was telling me about? Crashed it in a car park showing off or something?
All back in one piece then now mate? :)

:D Yep I'm affraid so. I had a drag race against an Audi TT, but accelerated through the braking zone.
Since then I've also stuffed it into the back of a Porsche Boxter.
It's all repaired again now and I'm a lot more respectful of the car nowadays. I very rarely race it or show-off anymore... The consequences are always too expensive!

Just outta interest (barring the crashing and repairing) how much does the car owe you to get to the standard?

where are you from? plymouth area? bloody nice car by the way!
Aye that is a bloody nice car. Only thing i would have done is set up an electronic boot release to totally fluch the boot ... even though it really would screw you if your remote packed up lol
Impressive stuff fella, Ive seen the pic on MIG of the car with the normal bonnet back on, and I must say its much better.;)

LOL - yep not looking forward to meeting your beast at the lights mate!

It's relatively reliable. I've always had one problem or another - but it's almost 20 years old now so I spose it's got to be expected. I don't always have the car set at full boost. Most of the time the Apexi is set to run 1.3 bar and setting B is for full boost for the odd blatt. The car is off the road at the mo because the torque has put a crack straight through the entire length of the bulkhead  Apparently it's quite common and can be patched up but I've been told that cracks will continue to form whilst this sort of power is going through it.

At the last count it was £35k, I think that included two resprays from original midnight blue to pearl purple, and then from pearl purple to the flip. I've actually had many more resprays due to the accidents.

Yep Plymouth.

Yep that's the only reason I've kept it. The number of times I've gone to get tyres fitted and the guy has said 'keys are in the car mate'! I reckon they do it on purpose!

if you get the bulkhead crack sorted out before may will you be coming to the south west meet in cheddar gorge? i reckon you could take off when you get to the top of the gorge with that amount of power! lol.
What a labour of love that is ,i feel like i should bow or something ,lol

LOL!
The crack should be sorted any day now - I'm planing on taking it to the spring action day at coombe on the 23rd.

I have taken one or two - I'll post em up later... I had mine seam welded too, but we didn't do the bulkhead because it makes very little difference there apparently.

Well that's a good question. It made 330Bhp at the fly at interpro last year and that was running just 1.25 Bar. Now it's boosting to 1.9 Bar overboost and 1.6 Bar standard. Phase 4 is supposed to produce 370 at the fly so if it's doing that I've got no issues.

Again that would just be a guess. Interpro were unable to record the torque last year and nothing was gleaned from the latest session. We're considering putting the car onto a hub dyno next time.
That is one badboy astra! It must be awesome fun to drive.
Has anything actually ever kept up with you on a motorway etc?
It must blow everthing into the weeds! :D

LOL. It's great to drive in the dry, but I personally hate it in the wet. In the wet it's so twitchy and erratic it borders on uncontrollable. In the dry it's almost perfect to me. I don't tend to test it's maximum speed out much - it's stripped out and makes an unbelievable noise. A mate of mine recently took it up to 165mph and said it still had plenty more
I prefer the mid-range performance - It's great pulling up behind something quick like an M3 at about 70mph and then booting it past him like he was stood still.

Don't suppose you know of any Frontera intercoolers for sale do you? :)
