hello everyone, i'm a newbie here as you can see 2nd post. i'm jon and this is my astra gte champion....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/gtejon/70c6ed86.jpg
my girlfriend nik and i washed her last night, nik did the inside and the wheels i did the wash, shammy and stainless exhaust. this morning we were up early and out polishing her with the faithful auto glym

and here's the front
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/gtejon/f45b361b.jpg
shame about the washer jet on this side, the car rolled down my mums driveway into her megane before i sorted the handbrake out  all i got to do now is treat the leather, again with the faithful autoglym but they don't look too bad at the mo
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/gtejon/car30thjanyard007.jpg
engine bay is fairly normal looking, carbon fibre air box, strut brace (1 in the boot too), and a modded throttle body
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/gtejon/car30thjanyard008.jpg
the heat shield is stainless along with the cam cover bolts, i'd like to do some other bits this year but it all depends on finances and the usual run of the mill wear and tear bits that always crop up :(
anyway that's my hello, i'm going to look at some of your cars now, let me know if you like mine. feedback from others is always a good thing ;)
Heya dude, thats a tidy looking car :) Welcome aboard too! The leather interior looks good also, very up-together motor :p

ooooh she made an impact then!!! :D thanx for your comments so far, unfortunately a 16 year old car is never as mint as it looks in the pics, but for 16 years old it could be a hell of a lot worse. some money needs spending this year, starting next month hopefully with a new alarm system.
i must say after reading your comments i won't be selling for a fiver ;) or replacing that old leather interior ;) in fact mod wise i have no interest in changing the original look as i love them standard, under the bonnet though is a different story.....i have plans :)
i used meguires polish once on my old red 16v that had faded, man that stuff made that car look forecourt mint!!!! i use auto glym because i always have, i like it and you get the whole range of good stuff. but where to you get meguires from???? that stuff is the t1t5!!!
kev i'd like to see some pics of yours if there are any

You can buy It direct on-line from http://meguiars.co.uk/.
You can also get hold of the bodyshop stuff from there:cool:

I didnt realise those wheels were wanted wheels. I scrapped my 1st MK2 with those wheels on it

yeah they are pretty rare! i want some for my GTE 16v 5door replica! i want to keep it looking quite standard but want 15's as i might put V6 brakes on it one day!
The wheels in question came on Astra Champs ,but i think that the Cavy had a similar set on them as ive seen a few Cavys wearing them

i understand the cavy wheels are different, the ones on the champ only came on a champ and they are deeper dished, the cavy's are flatter...
So can you tell me the basic stuff i need just to wash the car an give it a good polish
i use auto glym for polishing the car, extreme car shampoo (luminous green bottle) for washing the car, similar colour bottle of stuff for my wheels, bottle of shiny sinks for my exhaust, auto glym leather care cleaner and cream for the seats and doorcards, sun of a gun for the dash and plastics, back to black on the skirts and exterior plastics, wd40 under the bonnet (gives the black pipes that clean look ;)
i'm going to look at the meguires website that stuff really is good!!!
*top tip* apparently if you smear squeazy bottle soap or washing up liquid onto your windows (inside), rub it in and buff with a clean dry cloth, it should stop windows fogging up

sorry mate i'll be in a pine box before i sell that car ;)
it's in a sorry state at the moment, the engines coming out along with a fair bit else for a bulkhead and front chassis weld along with anything else that looks a bit dodgy whilst i'm in there.
once it has an mot again the bodywork needs tidying, the pictures do a lot of justice for the car, but close too it has a few rough edges which need smoothing.
thanks for your comments though as it's nice to hear what people have to say and its gives you that little bit more motivation to get the work done.
i will be starting an owner diary as soon as i get round to uploading some pics.

i had a fella from work pop round the other day and when he opened the drivers door and looked inside, he was rather shocked at how nice it was inside with the black dash and black leather recaro's. you almost forget your looking at a 15 year old vauxhall astra :D
i have just started a new thread in the rebuilds/restorations forum where i will keep my diary updated as often as work is done to the car.
my champion diary (http://www.astra-mk2.com/forum/showthread.php?p=32410#post32410)
