View Full Version : My Look-a-likey
Hey lads, im new to the site so 1st of all i'd like to say "HEY" ! And here i my lookalike GTE ... proper GTE valver soon to be garaged, suited and booted when i find a victim ;) ... In the meantime here is my current car. Lowered 60mm, sat on 17" wheels, Stainless exhaust, fully reconditioned 2 years ago so pretty much rust free. Badboy bonnet, full respray in Ford Panther metallic black, reflective silver windows, Engine converted from 1.3 to cavi 1.6 (Pre CAT) with uprated cam. Car delocked, also has a Golf GTi front splitter just to lower the front a little. Nothing crazy, but still gets me looks :)

Your car sounds real nice, especially being in metalilic black. And mine is only a looky-likey to so I feel your desire for the real thing. Any chance of getting some pics up?
Hmmmzles, ok i tried uploading a couple of pics ... they were too large ... so i used paint to erase a load of the surroundingsto make it smaller, got it to 280kb, still too big :eek: , so i erased the roof and it was small enough (Not much of a pic but i was getting determined ! Besides the wheels look lush in the back arches!) and then the buggering site wont let me load it anyways! :confused: If i figure out how to work it i'll put a couple in :D

hehe, thanks mate. Ive spent a bit of time looking at everyones pride and joys on here for some idea's when i get my proper project ( a 16v'er worthy of having money spent on it!), and yours is by far the tidiest example! Definitely like that, fair play !

Looks good Sipo, the front bumper almost looks Vectra GSi ish with those side vents. I'm a little undecided on the tints though, they're pretty full on!
Thanks caul pope. The bumper will probably be moving to my project when i get it. I know what you mean about the windows, but i love it! Driving down the road with the car purring and knowing that people turn to look cant see into the car at all (Good job cus im an ugly bastard!) especially on a sunny day, its totally one way glass.

Very nice, If you current car is rot free (it looks it) I would just do an engine transplant, you'll have to spend a lot to get a sound Valver then add in the cash to spend on it. Find a rotten one with a good heart and job done! :D

Hehe, i need the luxury of electric windows and a sunroof! I think i may have found the car for it too - been keeping an eye out for the past couple of month and hopefully i have found a decent one.

I used to have a 1200 merit GTE lookie likey. Unfortunately I rapped it round a tree :(
It did mean that I had to upgrade to an SXi though :D .

Rather Nice Sipo .
Well if you do see it about, it will be in GTECab16v possession (Well -his wife) lol. Hopefully to be collected at the end of the week. It wasnt always black - was red before. It was one of the things on my hitlist to get done while it was off the road to spray under the bonnet, but as said, i ended up seeing a cheap valver with a knock up the ass end so bought it. Twas a good car that took me everywhere, but the need for more speed and some additional electrics took over :p .I am defo hoping to see it all spangly again and at some MK2 meet ups! I will get some snaps up of the valver when i get a program to downsize photo's, but it will probably be in the restorations bit as there is a fair old bit of work to be done. I'll do a full write up on it. Cheers for the comments though lads! Nice to know the effort was apreciated ;)

well my initial MK2 got written off at a roundabout for me on my 18th birthday :mad: ... That was June 2003 and i got it about a week after. That car gave me a couple of damn good summers, it went with me to every weekend away and so down to Newquay, Bournemouth, Exeter, Cardiff, Nottingham and so on and so on. It will be a missed car to be honest! I just hope the valver can do as much for me :p
