  • This cars doing my head in!!!!!

right as a few of you know iv been having problems with the champ......well the problems have not stopped since i fitted the c20let , iv been getting the management light on at 6k revs, so been checking into this and found a melted wire in the loom, sorted that yesterday and guess wot its still the same!!!!! so whipped the sump off and found the pick up ring damaged, so ripped the engine out and started stripping it down! thought id adress the smoking on idle aswell and found the turbo seals to be leaking again, so thats been sent away to i.t.s turbos to sort, so once again im with out the astra for a while and its ****ing me off!

Oh dear, not the best news then - I've seen the V6 one, and concluded there was no way to remove that without removing the crank.

How come it has failed? I can imagine little bits of crushed ring in the sump?

                    Ian.

(ooooh... any news on that disc? )

Re: This cars doing my head in!!!!!

UPDATE........got the crank out and found one of the main bearings had picked up!!!! not happy, so rang the engine shop who done all the work and supplied the bearings 5 months ago and got "sorry we have changed companys" and are no longer kingston engines so its got nothing to do with us!!! so sent the crank somewere else to be checked and orderd up some new main bearings!!! also found my nice new "tecniclutch" has been slipping after only 3 weeks, so one phone call later a lot of swearwords the clutch went back in the post and a re-fund should be on its way!!! so all in all another great day

bit of good news now, the cranks ok and is just being polished again, and the turbos also good and hasnt been passing oil, but have found a couple of cracked valve guides.....so getting these changed, and hoping it will cure my smoke on idle
